Juniper Capital is delighted to share another fun community event presented by the Rotary Club of Sammamish: The Nightmare at Beaver Lake!
Along the dark trails of Beaver Lake Park, an all-volunteer group of demented, dedicated “ghouls” thump in the night and leave guests screaming and giggling in the name of spooky fun! The Seattle area’s largest indoor/outdoor haunted house is in its last week right now.
This nearly mile-long “trail of terror” means encounters with zombies and monsters. Leave your phone, flashlights and any masks or camouflage behind. Just show up and prepare for a scare! Its last days are Wednesday and Thursday, Oct. 30 and 31, from 7-10 p.m., so don’t delay! Get your tickets here.
This history of the event dates to 2004 when the Rotary Club of Sammamish decided to create a unique haunted adventure. The goal was to create a project that would involve the city’s teenagers both as constructors and customers. They gathered help from Scare Productions, Valour Designs, the Sammamish Youth Board, the Skyline High School Key Club, Eastlake High School DECA, the City of Sammamish, and people from the community.
The event stands out because visitors wind their way through both outdoor and indoor scenes with live volunteer actors. In its first year nearly 4,000 people screamed their way through Beaver Lake Park in just four nights. Each year, the crowds and the attraction and scary sections grew. By 2011 it had nearly 12,000 visitors who donated over 2,500 pounds of food! The community effort raises about $220,000 annually for the Sammamish Rotary, enabling it to help local charities, such as the Issaquah Food and Clothing Bank, as well as important causes around the world.
Important note: it’s a deliberately scary event, so while it’s family friendly, the hosts recommend kids 10 and older are ideal to attend.
