The beautiful weather is coming back and it brings great happenings at Juniper Capital. We have officially become members of the CREW Organization, which provides an excellent platform for networking, education, and business development in the commercial real estate industry.
This past month, Juniper President Kurt Ursich and I attended the Risk Management Association dinner at Washington Athletic Club, in which Steve Hovde, President of Hovde Financial, was the keynote speaker who gave his perspective on the future of the banking industry, with regard to capital development, mergers, acquisitions, and strategies. We actively reacquainted with past friends and associates and met new folks as well.
We sat with Bob Ittes and Carmen Malsbury of Whidbey Island Bank, recently our new neighbors here in Issaquah. We are so thrilled to have them here! We also sat and chatted with Marty Steele of The Bank of Washington and Vince Healy with Clearpoint Appraisal. It was a fun table of people and we look forward to seeing all of them at the next event.
Upcoming events that we will be attending include the NAIOP Breakfast on May 21 at The Four Seasons in Seattle. The discussion will be focused on “Capital Markets: Are We Nearing The Next Bubble?” And to close the month, we will be at the RMA Banking Industry Leaders Forum and Networking Event at Gordon Biersch in Pacific Place on May 29, which you may have read about on our blog.
This month, we have also become charitable donors to The Issaquah Schools Foundation, an amazing “non-profit organization that drives resources to help students achieve the promise of their academic potential.” We are very lucky to have such a phenomenal organization in our community that bridges the gap between state-funded basic education standards and the additional cost it takes to further prepare students for a successful school career and life in general.
Next month, we will be sponsoring a hole at the 2014 NAIOP/Big Brothers and Sisters of Puget Sound Big Invitational at Washington National Golf Club in Auburn, WA. It’s fun to spin the tedium of the working world into entertaining opportunities to meet new people and have fun in the sun with friends, colleagues, and business partners alike.
